Abstract
A model for coreless magnetic components based on finite element analysis (FEA) is proposed. The lack of a nonlinear magnetic core is an advantage in terms of modelling. The characteristic of linearity makes these transformers perfectly suitable for modelling using FEA. A model based only on finite element analysis is proposed in this paper. This model accounts for geometry and frequency effects (skin, proximity..). The proposed model is also suitable for transformers with magnetic cores if nonlinear effects in the core (saturation and hysteresis) are neglected.
