Abstract :
Intercloud systems have emerged as next logical step in the evolution of cloud computing overcoming issues of data/vendor lock-in and dealing with volatile resource requests. However, resource discovery in this heterogeneous environment remains a challenge. In this paper we present a two phase chord-based peer-to-peer distributed resource discovery mechanism based on spatial-awareness of cloud data-centers belonging to different Cloud Service Providers. Exploiting location information of Data Centers by organizing them into chord-based clusters belonging to different geographic locations and connecting these clusters through a super ring chord structure allows for optimized resource discovery within acceptable latency. The proposed mechanism thus allows for QoS-compliant resource provisioning across Cloud Service Providers (CSPs). Simulation results establish the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
