Abstract :
A novel power factor correction (PFC) cell with direct-power-transfer (DPT) concept, called flyboost, is presented. This PFC cell combines power transfer characteristics of conventional flyback and boost topologies. Based on the proposed flyboost PFC cell, a new family of single-stage (S2) topologies is derived, and an example converter is experimentally verified with a 150 W/28 V prototype. While still achieving high power factor (above 0.97) and tight output regulation. The flyboost PFC cell helps improve the converter´s efficiency by 3-5% over conventional converters.
