Abstract
The orthogonal-search technique is utilized to reduce the number of filter coefficients required to describe Volterra kernels up to third order. To demonstrate the efficacy of the approach, the orthogonal-search technique is applied to two experimental data sets exhibiting quadratic and cubic nonlinearities, respectively. The results show that this method can reduce the required number of filter coefficients considerably, while still providing a good model of the nonlinear physical system.<>
