Abstract
A coherent detection scheme with data based channel estimation (DBCE) is considered to evaluate the error performance of a CDMA uplink with staggered burst pilot. As the pilot burst triggers DBCE operation periodically, DBCE operation is shown to be remarkably stable to Gaussian noise and Doppler shift with proper parameter setting until the next pilot burst arrives. In the DBCE detected data is re-coded and integrated over multiple symbols for the stable channel estimation which is again used for the coherent detection. This paper focuses the analytical modelling and evaluation of the error performance of DBCE as the integration interval and Eb/NO of received signal varies
