Abstract :
Call admission control (CAC) is a significant radio resource management (RRM) function for quality of service (QoS) provisioning in wireless networks. Different CAC schemes have been proposed and evaluated, most of them under the call blocking probability (CBP) achieved. On the other hand, CAC problem in multiclass wireless networks should not only be evaluated under the CBP achieved for every service class (SC) supported, but also for other QoS and network efficiency criteria. In this paper, four CAC schemes based on guard channel policy, offering priority to high QoS level SCs, are studied and evaluated under fairness and throughput criteria with respect to input load. The simulation results indicate that although the CAC schemes studied yield good fairness and throughput, while achieving low CBP, there is a tradeoff between the previous parameters.
