Abstract
To face today´s explosion of knowledge and the increase of cost and demand in intellectual exercise, we are proposing the incorporation of an active knowledge support system module to the intelligent system for design. Using the example of a typical mechanical product, such as an automotive ball head pin, we will demonstrate the need for development of an active knowledge assistance system for the engineering analysis of automotive parts. This system provides a rapid assistance to the designers, allowing pertinent knowledge be shared and communicated promptly among expert designers, resulting in a higher efficiency between man and machine collaboration.
