Abstract
The application of embedded system solutions to power quality systems are based on unique algorithm which take maximum amount of time and CPU utilization of an embedded processor. Most of such applications go for DSP processors however some might like to take up advantages of simple hardware design based on digital signal controllers or 32-bit microcontrollers. For such applications rich peripherals for communications, data logging and displays are utilized from economical and compact microcontrollers. For an application that does not utilize RTOS, may go for complex software architecture based on timers that are available inside the microcontroller. The paper describes various architectures for such an embedded system.
