Abstract
The multipin connector in a rack system for high-speed board-to-board signal transmission is evaluated in terms of noise, connector-pin density, and PTH (plated through-hole) productivity. The optimum pin pitch is either a 2-mm grid or a 1.27-mm staggered grid. A trial 1.27-mm staggered grid connector achieves 6% crosstalk (leading signal risetime 1 ns under 1:1 signal/ground pin assignment)
