  • Abstract
Parametric wavelength converters (PWCs) can efficiently improve blocking probability performance of mesh all-optical networks by relaxing wavelength continuity constraint. However, as bit rate per channel increases, blocking occurs not only due to lack of wavelength, but also physical layer impairment (PLI) limitations. For instance, chromatic dispersion limit is reduced by square of bit rate. In order to simultaneously overcome wavelength continuity- and dispersion-induced blockings, this letter extends the use of PWC for dynamic dispersion compensation (DDC) purpose. Significant load improvement has been demonstrated when administered on an engineering rule to reduce dispersion effect.
