Abstract
This paper reviews different paradigms for intelligent tutoring system (ITS). It examines earlier ITS paradigms that attempt to model after either the physical processes (of teaching/learning), the expert or the learner. More recent paradigms as used in "principle-based", SICAI (Semi-ICAI) and ECAL (Extended-CAL) systems. Finally, a new paradigm called "Dimensional Extension" is presented.<>
