Abstract
The authors have described the framework underlying continuous and discrete families of nonseparable two-dimensional wavelets and an M -channel nonrectangular multiresolution wavelet representation for L 2(R2) functions and I 2 (Z 2) sequences. Focusing on the case of quincunx sampled signals, solutions of digital filter banks for implementing the decomposition with different characteristics of linear phase and regularity for smoothing and wavelet functions are provided
