Abstract :
The application of fractal geometry to database structures is demonstrated using existing technology. Fractal data compression has the advantage of shrinking large amounts of data for storage and analysis with minimal loss of information. Fractals minimize the need for defining a specific database topology-a property suitable in object-oriented design. Fractals represent the atomic (smallest) element of information. Through recursive properties fractals support the construction of relationships between atomic elements and their derivatives: for instance in defining virtual objects or groups
