Abstract :
Wireless Sensor Networks found application in volcano monitoring consists of sensor nodes to collect volcanic data. The sensor nodes employed in monitoring the volcano are battery operated, which determines the life of the node. The communication between nodes is done by hop-by-hop fashion. The main source of energy consumption is the transceiver; hence the protocol associated with the mechanism of communication should have to be efficient. In this paper we have evaluated the performance of a reactive routing protocol, Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol for volcano monitoring by changing the parameters associated with the algorithm for enhanced performance. The simulation is done with the help of QualNet and the performance been evaluated in terms of parameters like throughput, end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio in addition with energy consumption of the sensor nodes at different modes of operation.
