Abstract
In this contribution, the role of complex surfaces in power transmission enhancement through small apertures is discussed. Two different novel structures, overcoming the diffraction limit at microwaves, are here presented: one based on frequency selective surfaces (FSS) and the other based on metamaterial slabs. The design details of the proposed setups are given and their performances are compared by means of full wave simulations performed through the commercial software CST Studio Suite 2009.
