Abstract
The main topics and approaches touched on in this paper focus on the combination of software engineering with artificial intelligence into the CASE environment, and building a CASE environment model based on representation. There are two points we emphasize: (1) requirements analysis as a crucial phase, and (2) mapping most software-intermediate products into kernel representation forms based on a representational schema, which gives the developer the opportunity to generate these products automatically. At present, we have finished the preliminary work and have applied these techniques to a prototype system to support the development of large-scale mechanical CAD software.<>
