  • Abstract
Intelligent transportation systems and associated travelers´ information systems can dramatically influence the way people decide to travel, thus the way of living in urban areas. In this paper a bus arrival time prediction and the associated travelers´ information system of a medium size city is presented. The system uses the latest GPS technology for automatic bus location and GPRS technology for communications. The real time availability of all buses´ exact locations and speeds enables the system to have very clear traffic information of the city´s main streets and to predict arrival times with satisfactory accuracy. Some financial aspects of the project are discussed as well.
