Abstract :
In the present report, results of computer processing of video recording EHD flows in a symmetric system of electrodes such as two wires are presented. The field of speeds of two-dimensional EHD flows is restored with high accuracy by means of a specially developed package of programs. Visualization of EHD flows represents a challenge, since low conductivity liquids are very sensitive to contamination. Researches have shown that for the visualization of EHD-flows, bubbles can be used. The authors have developed a special computer program for handling videotapes of two-dimensional EHD-flows formed by a wire - wire electrodes. The handling is carried out by means of separate current streamline selection with further recovery of velocity components and acceleration vectors. The results of handling are vector fields of velocities and acceleration, maps of level lines and surface graphs of velocities and acceleration, and also restored streamlines, graphs of acceleration distribution along lines and some integral characteristics, namely consumption of liquid along discretionary selected streamlines of the liquid. In the report, results of the processing of symmetric counter EHD-flows, and also the asymmetrical EHD-flows received by introduction in an initial liquid transformer oil, are given. The comparative analysis of properties of passing and through EHD flows is presented. The analysis of kinematic and dynamic structure of EHD flows, has confirmed the zoned structure of flows, stated earlier, and also in detail has allowed the authors to describe a structure of a zone of recombination and characterise its transformation at the transition from counter EHD flows to through EHD flows. It is shown that through EHD flow is preferable in designing electrohydrodynamic pumps.
