Abstract :
M-net is a local area network (LAN) based on unidirectional bus system (UBS) architecture consisting of two outbound channels and one inbound channel. The network provides reverse round robin scheduling. The medium access control (MAC) protocol of M-net utilizes implicit token passing scheme with attempt-and-defer mechanism, achieving conflict-free transmissions among stations. In this paper, architecture and MAC of M-net is described. Then bounds on the performance measures of M-net are reported. Finally its performance is compared with other contemporary LAN systems.<>
