Abstract :
This paper presents a novel method for multiple attribute decision making problems, in which interval numbers are used to assess the weights of attributes, and fuzzy linguistic variables are utilized to evaluate the suitability of alternatives versus various attributes. In the face of interval attribute weights, a definition of effective attribute weights and its representation are developed. Based on the effective attribute weights, the effective fuzzy synthetic ratings of alternatives for all attributes can be obtained easily. The proposed aggregation algorithm is simple, straightforward and it avoids more extensive arithmetic operations between interval numbers and fuzzy numbers. By ranking the defuzzification values of effective fuzzy synthetic ratings of alternatives, the best alternative selection can be determined. At last, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the proposed method.
