Abstract
The incorrect choice of the sampling frequency when digital signal processing techniques are employed usually leads to dramatic aliasing errors. This situation can very often occur in many digital instruments, like digital scopes. The present paper proposes at automatic method based on oversampling and random decimation techniques, able to detect aliasing conditions and warn the operator. The proposed procedure has been implemented in a scope-like virtual instrument specially realized to test it experimentally
