Abstract
To accommodate more DGs (distribution generations) and improve power supply reliability, the concept of SDG (smart distribution grid) has been raised. This paper covers the concept of smart distribution gird and briefly introduces the necessity to develop SDG from the aspects its social benefits, economic benefits and influence to the distribution grid. As the new forms of the SDG, micro grid (MG) and active distribution network (ADN) are analyzed and compared with each other. Finally, the some technologies and practical problems about SDG are discussed. By incorporating with new technologies like Big Data and Internet of Things, SDG is prone to obtain a new opportunity to develop
