Abstract :
A novel configuration fiber-optic polarizer has been fabricated by etching off whole cladding over a small length of fiber and enclosing the bare core in the birefringent crystal. This fiber-optic polarizer is a broad-bandwidth device. The polarization extinction ratios are better than 40 dB from 1250 to 1600 nm. The insertion loss is less than 1 dB. The package size is 2.5×3.5×20 mm
