Abstract
There are still deficiencies in reliability and risk assessment of protection system: protection characteristics was not described accurately in reliability assessment models, sequential characteristic of protection action was not considered carefully in risk assessment flow, or security considerations of protection system need to be improved. In this paper, protection reliability and operating risk assessment is taken into account from both adequacy and security. An instantaneous failure probabilistic model of protection component is presented and a new risk probabilistic assessment flow is proposed after establishing reasonable risk indices. An application sample is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method finally.
