Abstract :
To achieve a high regenerative efficiency, a good safety and a notable comfort for the driver, an optimized coordination between the friction braking and the regenerative braking must be realized. At low vehicle speed the coordination is difficult. The regenerative braking efficiency can be improved considerably by reducing the speed at which braking engine torque is replaced by friction. However a highly responsive braking system is necessary. This study presents a new compact Electro-Hydraulic Brake System (EHBS), using a ball-screw electric actuator. Simulations show the benefits and the feasibility of this EHBS, aligned with the global electrification trend of vehicles.
