  • Abstract
In recent work [Phys. Rev. B, 79, 153109, 2009] it was shown that a crossed metallic wire mesh may enable broadband negative refraction. Such effect is a consequence of nonlocal interactions between the inclusions and represents a new paradigm for obtaining negative refraction without left-handed materials. Here we describe the salient features of this phenomenon, and propose an analytical model based on homogenization theory.
