Abstract :
Mathematical morphology, which is a set theoretical methodology for image analysis, can rigorously quantify many aspects of the geometrical structure of signals in a way that agrees with human intuition and perception. The paper, which is based on the synthetical idea, analyzes the decomposition of a morphological structuring element. For any N-point structuring element, it concludes that the correct lower bound of decomposition is e/spl middot/lnN.<>
