Abstract
The understanding of the pedestrian behavior in the crowd is indispensable for the assessment of urban layout. A simulation model of pedestrian flow based on hybrid systems approach is reported and typical phenomena in the evacuation are generated based on the simulation model proposed by the authors. However, in the previous researches, the characteristics of the confluence, which arises in the evacuation from typical urban facilities, are not investigated with the proposed models. In this paper, we focus on the confluence of pedestrians and investigate the difference of pedestrian characteristics in terms of the merging direction. The typical feature is generated based on the simulation model and some interpretations are provided in terms of the flow coefficient.
