Abstract :
A current focus within biometric technology research and development is the definition of international standards to enable interoperability of modality data collected on multiple devices and biometric processing engines. The human signature is a widely used form of biometric verification with widespread legal admissibility and acceptability for verification purposes. Within automatic signature verification systems the force of the pen exerted on a writing surface during signing is a commonly used `dynamic´ feature for performance comparison, however data returned across devices is not normalized with respect to common return values or physical measurements. In this paper an initial investigation into normalising force values from a series of common capture devices is presented and data interoperability is demonstrated through the use of a statistical comparison of feature value populations.
