Abstract :
The main aim of the channel assignment problem in Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) is to assign the channels to the network interfaces from the given expected load on each virtual link. Maintaining connectivity and increasing the aggregate bandwidth are the objectives to be fulfilled for channel assignment. We can observe from the existing work done so far, that there is no combined solution of multichannel assignment with routing and congestion control. In this paper, we propose to develop a distributed multi channel assignment along with a congestion control routing protocol. A Traffic aware metric is used to provide quality of service (QoS) in this protocol. The proposed algorithm assigns the channels in a way that, congestion is avoided and co-channel interference levels among links with same channel are reduced. Hence it can improve the throughput and channel utilization to very high extent. By simulation results, we show that the proposed protocol attains high throughput and channel utilization along with reduced latency.
