Abstract :
Cross Border Interference (CBI) due to uncoordinated frequency allocations across international borders can cause degradation of wireless networks. There is a need to analyze the factors which cause CBI and to propose solutions to reduce it to improve network quality. Various phenomena that cause or enhance the effect of CBI are presented and multiple techniques are discussed which can reduce CBI such as optimum management of transmitter power, lowering of antenna heights, changing base station antenna tilts and proper placement of base station antennas. The advantages of these techniques and their application are explained.
