Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to present and document a novel program using Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), which calculates the performance of different substation bus arrangements. Three metrics are created to evaluate the performance characteristics of each type of bus arrangement. The goal is to use mathematics, programming, and minimal user input to calculate performance metrics aiding the decision process for various configurations. The results are presented and future improvements are proposed.
