Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a technique for shaping the power spectrum of coded modulation that is an intermediate solution between the Tomlinson-Harashima and trellis precoding, and the OFDM options. In particular, we propose the use of several independent TCM codes to encode different subbands of the available transmission bandwidth (BW). The subbands are spanned by wavelet packets or in general generated using a filter bank. Simple conditions are stated that ensure that all the component TCM codes in all the subbands can be decoded simultaneously and in a single decoder
