Abstract
Field emission display (FED) as one of the next generation display technologies, has attracted the attentions of many researchers. Preparation of low cost cold cathode material for FED application is the topic that attracts much attention in this area. In this paper, the vacuum gap dependence of field emission characteristics of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) polymer thin film were observed. The observed phenomena were attributed to the formation of microwhiskers during the switch-on process. Scanning electron microscopy of polymer surface confirmed the inclusions of microwhiskers
