Abstract :
Humback whale fin stabilizer and fin stabilizer with humps can generate higher lift than standard fin stabilizer at medium/high speed, the lift characteristics of the two kinds of morphing fin are studied at zero/low forward speed in order to see which is more suitable to use at zero/low speed. The lift of the fin generated by flapping at zero/low speed is different from the lift of the traditional fin stabilizer at medium/high speed, the lift of the humback whale fin stabilizer and the fin stabilizer with humps is simulinked by using Fluent, which is compared with the lift of the standard fin stabilizer. From the simulation results, it can be seen that humback whale fin is suitable not only for zero/low speed but also medium/high speed.
