Abstract :
This paper explores advanced controller design concepts by combining the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and automatic control. To accomplish this, the effective AI controller for the working mode control of excavator is designed. The knowledge bases for the controller are established from the human operator´s experience and basic engineering knowledge and the operating curves of the engine and pump. And a new gain self-tuning algorithm is proposed for closed loop gain control. The excavator with the controller shows to drive more effectively and efficiently in each working mode.<>
