Abstract :
This paper presents simple voltage phasor estimation techniques for single or three phase systems using a complex Kalman filter in linear form. The significance of the Kalman filter model is that only one state is sufficient for phasor estimation, which results in less computation. Using the same Kalman filtering approach a single state frequency estimation technique is also proposed. These filters do not have the stability problem like the nonlinear Kalman filters proposed earlier. The algorithms are tested through different computer simulations including with data collected from a power system.
