Abstract :
This paper presents position protection based on wavelet transforms. For external faults the protection can block the operation reliably if is behind the relay or forward of the relay,. For internal faults the protection can operate correctly and locate the exact position of fault for solid or high resistances faults. The protection is immune to not only resistance in the path of fault, but also the bus bar construction.
