Abstract
In this work, 3D atom probe was done on Sm(Co0.68Fe0.20Cu0.10Zr0.02) 7.5 alloy. Results suggested that an anomalous field evaporation occurred in this alloy and that with decreasing temperature to about 20 K, the preferential evaporation of Sm could be prevented from occurring. The purpose of this study is to establish suitable probing conditions for atom probe analysis of this alloy, so that compositions for this and similar alloys can be determined correctly in our further investigations of the effects of heat treatment on alloy constitution and phase composition. The effects of probing conditions on the measured composition are discussed based oh the evaporation fields of metals
