Abstract :
Control of batch or semi-batch processes is usually complex due to various reasons. With a proper understanding of process dynamics, optimal performance of control loops may be achieved. In this study, dynamic data from several semi-batch reactors were analyzed to reveal the change in process dynamics along the batch trajectory and between batches. The results of the analyses, combined with our process and control knowledge, allowed us to assess the effectiveness of the control scheme and to tune up the PID controllers used in the control scheme for the semi-batch process
