  • Abstract
A novel distributed bus protection based on the transmission line traveling-wave power directions and the wavelet transformation is presented. The theoretical analysis and EMTP simulation tests show, (a) It is not effected by current transformer saturation due to using the faulty information of the traveling waves. (b) The protection criterion based on the wavelet transform can distinguish internal faults from external ones reliably, and its performance can endure the influences of various conditions such as fault type, fault resistance, etc. (c) The new distributed architecture is more economical and convenient than existing bus protection architectures due to using the transmission line directional protection and the wavelet transform technique.
