Abstract :
In this paper, a model-based prognosis method is proposed for induction motor with stator winding shorted turn fault. The induction motor model with stator winding shorted turn fault is developed using reference frame transformation theory. In the induction motor, the fault severity is determined by the insulation resistance. Since in practice the fault evolution process is unknown, a particle filter method is proposed to identify the true degradation dynamics. Based on the estimated degradation dynamics, the remaining useful life of the stator winding is predicted. Simulation studies are carried out and the results validate the developed method.
