            Abstract : 
Improvement in the power transfer capability and voltage profile of EHV transmission lines can be achieved through appropriate series and shunt compensation of the line parameters. In this paper a procedure which is part analytical and part iterative is suggested to evolve suitable values for series and shunt compensation to obtain a desired performance from a given EHV line.<>
