Abstract :
This paper describes the digital simulation of controlled series capacitor compensated EHV transmission systems. In particular, a method is described for simultaneous digital simulation of thyristors, their firing circuit, and capacitor protection equipment. All these models are implemented by using the Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) including extensive use of Transient Analysis of Control Systems (TACS). The paper concludes with the presentation of some interesting simulation results and analyses.<>
