  • Abstract
    Conventional civil Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems are able to detect targets and identify collaborative aircrafts in the air space but they don´t assure full coverage at low altitude, in presence of non cooperative targets (NCTs) and aircraft A/C with a low value of radar cross section (RCS). In the following a new architecture to address this problem is proposed. The new ATC architecture foresees the combined use of conventional system, such as Primary and Secondary Radar, ADSB, etc., and innovative systems such as a new enhanced PSR, passive and bistatic radar network. In the following the new system architecture will be described. The approach foresees a data fusion center and a decision support system as a valid support for the situation awareness. Starting from the single sensors, the overall performance of the new ATC system are showed by a first preliminary analysis of data fusion. This results show the advantage of the new system respect to the conventional one specially in absence of the PSR coverage where the current system don´t allows to address the radar blind zones problem.
