Abstract :
The optimal power flow (OPF) package is a useful tool in a modern energy management system. Generally, the constant power load model is used in the OPF study. However, various models would lead to different conclusions. In this paper, the constant power and constant impedance load models are adopted to investigate the impacts of various load models on Newton OPF solutions. Several significances, based on the test results, are presented in this paper. A practical 251-bus system, namely the Taiwan power system, is used to serve as a sample to illustrate the above significant points.<>
