Abstract
Transmission of images over unreliable channel often results in high packet lost. In real time applications, the retransmissions of lost packets incur addition delay and wastage of bandwidth. With limited resources most of the existing solution relies on Error Concealment (EC). A novel strategy for error concealment of digital images using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is proposed in this paper, which is implemented by adopting the data hiding technique such as watermarking. Hidden information is used to reconstruct the lost block using the address based on Best Neighboring Matching with Overlapping (OBNM) technique. Finally the OBNM address of overlapping blocks is embedded into the DWT coefficient of the original image. For verification of algorithm its performance has been evaluated on Gilbert channel model, as it gives more realistic representation of the burst error condition present in wireless channels.
