  • Abstract
    A single phase matrix converter has been used as a Generalized single phase Power electronics converter such as Rectifier, Chopper, Inverter, AC voltage controller and Frequency changer using a single topology. An algorithm is developed that provides flexibility to single phase matrix converter (SPMC) to perform function of above various converters. Sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM), multiple pulse modulation (MPWM) scheme and combination of both schemes are used to synthesize the output to make it ripple free. A new modulation scheme is proposed to reduce the harmonics in the output of cyclo-converter and cyclo-inverter. The algorithm is implemented using MATLAB/simulink with sim power block set. Simulation results are including all six types of converter which use a variable control input and these inputs decide the type of converter and type of output waveform. Simulation results are presented for different firing angle and different duty cycle depending upon input supply that is AC supply or DC supply.
