Abstract
One can either use an integral equation or a differential equation to formulate the interaction of a conducting wire with an electromagnetic field. The former is more general and links the current and charge density at all points along the surface of the wire to the scattered field whereas the differential equation is purely local in character. Restricting consideration to a straight wire for the sake of clarity, one form of the electric field integral equation (EFIE) in the time-domain for the scattered field at the field point is presented and the implementation of the time-domain wire equations in a suitable electromagnetic code environment is discussed
