Abstract
In a full-controlled power converter-fed DC motor drive, the mechanism of harmonic generation is quite complicated. The harmonics in the line current depend on the load current, firing angle, armature inductance, and machine speed. This paper presents an analytical approach for calculating the line current waveforms and their frequency spectrum. By this analytical method, the harmonic characteristics of a DC motor drive are discussed under practical operating conditions. The results can be provided for harmonic analysis in a power system.<>
